Η Ελλάδα πέρασε...Η Ελλάδα στους 8...και όλοι εμείς οι υγιείς φίλαθλοι έχουμε λόγους να πανηγυρίζουμε και να είμαστε περήφανοι για αυτο το πράγμα που ονομάζουν κάποιοι Ελληνικό ποδόσφαιρο και μας το προσφέρουν ως προιόν μεγάλης και εγνωσμένης αξίας.

Δέ γράφω με σκοπό την γκρίνια σήμερα...απεναντίας, γράφω με περισσή υπερηφάνια που είδα αυτήν την εθνική ομάδα να φτάνει εκεί που έφτασε. Είμαι περήφανος που έζησα αυτήν την επιτυχία.

Το story της Κυριακής είχε ως εξής:

Επειδή τα μάτς ήταν την ίδια ώρα το BBC εδειχνε το Πορτογαλία Ισπανία που όπως είναι φυσικό είχε περισσότερο ενδιαφέρον. Έτσι λοιπόν ψάχναμε ποια παμπ θα το δείξει...τελικά καταλήξαμε σε μία κοντινή όπου και μαζευτήκαμε μερικοί Έλληνες για να το δούμε.

Η αγωνία μεγάλη, δεν ξεκινήσαμε καλά. Οταν φάγαμε και το δεύτερο τα μπινελίκια έδιναν και έπαιρναν. Μέχρι που σκοράραμε...αλλα και πάλι δε μας έφτανε. Στην παρέα έφταιγαν όλοι: Ο Βρύζας που δεν έκανε ένα κοντρόλ, ο Τσάρτας που δεν έτρεχε, ο Μπασινάς που ήταν εκτός τόπου και χρόνου, όλοι. Σε κάποια φάση σκεφτόμασταν ποιοί είναι οι γρουσούζηδες. Και άντε να αλλάξουμε θεσεις, να κάτσει η Αθηνά δίπλα σε μένα, ο Θεόφιλος μακριά, ο Καλόφωνος απο την άλλη μεριά...αλλα τίποτα δεν πήγαινε σωστα...Με τον Καλόφωνο το παρατήσαμε. Γυρίσαμε πλάτη στην οθόνη και βλέπαμε στις μικρές τηλεοράσεις πάνω απο το μπαρ, μία την Ελλάδα, μία την Ισπανία που δεν εβαζε ενα γκολ να τελειώνει η υπόθεση και έκατσε σαν κότα να χάσει μπας και μας περάσει στην ισοβαθμία. Όμως δεν τους κάναμε το χατήρι τελικα...

Στο ημίχρονο, μπιλιάρδο. Να χαλαρώσουμε λίγο...Έχασα 2-0 απο τον Καλόφωνο. Είπαμε δεν είμαι και τόσο καλος!

Μετα παλι στημένοι στις ίδιες θέσεις. Βλέπεις είχε βάλει γκολ ο Βρύζας και όλα τα σκαμνάκια ήτανε γούρικα. Οι μπύρες ερχόντουσαν και φεύγανε...το αποκορύφωμα ήταν όταν ο Γιαννης πήρε και φυστίκια! Κλασσικοι Ελληνάρες...

- Σφύρα το ρε πούστη...γαμω τον μπελά μου...Έληξε ρε μαλακα...Δεν τελειώνει και αυτή η γαμημένη η Ισπανια...Τους έχουμε στην ισοβαθμία ρε...χαλαρώστε...Τι να χαλαρώσουμε μωρε, δε το σφυράει ο μαλακας...

ΤΕΛΟΣ, ΤΕΛΟΣ, ΤΕΛΟΣ...ΕΛΗΞΕ!!!!!

Οι αγκαλιές δίνουν και πέρνουν...ίσως οχι τοσο έντονα οσο στην πατρίδα αλλα για εμας το ίδιο έντονα.

Όσο για τον αντίπαλό μας...χίλιες φορές καλύτερα που είναι η Γαλλία. Οι Άγγλοι την έχουνε πάθει μια φορα ήδη, και μας υπολογίζουν. Προσωπικά, μια και μισώ αφάνταστα αυτη τη Γαλλική κωλοομάδα, με τους "και καλά" παιχταράδες Ζιντάνιδες, Ανρίδες κλπ πιστεύω ακράδαντα οτι η Ελλάδα μπορεί να τους πετάξει έξω...και αυτούς και την νοοτροπία τους. Ξέρετε, αυτη που λέει "Εμείς είμαστε και κανένας άλλος...".

GREECE IS THROUGH! GREECE IS AMONGST THE 8 BEST NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAMS IN EUROPE.

THE GREEK VERSION OF THIS POST DESCRIBES THE PRECIOUS MOMENTS OF SUNDAY NIGHT THAT MADE A SMALL BUNCH OF GREEKS EVER SO PROUD AND HAPPY. HOWEVER, THIS IS NOT WHAT I WILL TALK ABOUT HERE.

For the foreigh viewers of this post, I would like to say a few things about the opponents of Greece and also comment on the matches and the overall picture of Groups A and B.

Personally, I prefer France. I didn't want England, because they do play better than the French and they have taken this competition very seriously which I am not possitive if the French did. This can turn out to be Greece's best advantage against France as I believe that the French will do the same mistake as the Portuguese did in the opening game. They will think that the Greek team is inferior to the French team and this is where Greece should show their potential. I do believe that we can go through. I don't believe in this French team.

On the contrary, I think that the English deserved to top this group because they played a lot better than the French. They were just unlucky. I have to say that I haven't seen England playing with such consistency since Euro 1996...However at the time they had full support from their fans, they were playing at home. But now, they do seem mature enough to go to the semis and then who know what may happen.

I wasn't convinced by the portuguese side either. They still have lots of internal matters to solve and they fact that they went through doesn't prove that they were the best team of Group A. However, they played well when they needed to so I suppose they deserved all the points they got. Still, they should have played a lot better against the Russians especially after they were down to 10 men. They had the chance to put the game beyond any doubt but they didn't. This will cause many problems as the English side will not forgive those tactical mistakes. Rooney and Owen will kill the sloppy portuguese defense.

Nothing can be said about the Russians. They were below the expectations and the fact that they were out right from the second game proves this. As for Spain...what can I say. Its a pity that such a talented team is out of the tournament but they deserved to be eliminated. If they wanted to go through, they should have gone for the win against Portugal. Instead they sat back and tried to defend and when they were loosing, they didn't do as well as needed to go through.

As for the rest of the teams of Group B, I think Croatia deserved something better. Especially against France. Still, I don't think they should be in the place of either England or France. The Swiss didn't impress me at all. I expected this kind of defensive playing by them and indeed they did nothing but defend.

Overall, I think that the teams that deserved to go through, did go through. I am proud of the Greek team and I am very optimistic about the quarter final against France.

Well done England. Wish you the best against Portugal.
