Η ανθρώπινη πλευρά του ποδοσφαίρου / Football can unite...

Σήμερα Τρίτη (28/09/04) οι φίλαθλοι του Ολυμπιακού και της Λίβερπουλ έδειξαν στο γήπεδο οτι αυτά που μπορεί να ενώνουν 2 ομάδες ειναι πολύ περισσότερα απο αυτα που μπορει να τις χωρίζουν. Χωρίς κανέναν ενδοιασμό λοιπον, και οι δυο πλευρές σηκώσαν ένα πανό που έγραφε συμβολικά "21+96 remember for ever".

Οι αριθμοί 21 και 96 αφορούν ξεκάθαρα στα θύματα της Θύρας 7 και του αντίστοιχου τραγικού γεγονότος του Χίλσμπορο. Για τα γεγονοτα στο Χιλσμπορο μπορείτε να διαβάσετε στην ακόλουθη διέυθυνση: http://www.contrast.org/hillsborough/history/index.htm

Αξίζει και στις 2 πλευρές ένα μεγάλο μπράβο...Αποδεικνύουν για άλλη μια φορά οτι η ανθρώπινη μεγαλοψυχία μπορεί να αναδείξει τον αληθινό χαρακτήρα του ποδοσφαίρου και του αθλητισμού.

Ας είναι ελαφρύ το χώμα που σκεπάζει τα 96 παιδιά του Χίλσμπορο και τα 21 της Θύρας 7 .


Today (Tuesday 28/09/04) the fans of Olympiakos CF and Liverpool FC showed us that there are more things that can unite fans of football clubs than to separate them. In a clearly emotional moment, in the Karaiskaki stadium of Athens, a banner was created with the words: "21+96 remember for ever"

The numbers 21 and 96 are related to the 21 Olympiakos fans that died in 1981 after a match against AEK Athens and the 96 Liverpool fans that died in Hillsborough (spelling?). Both sides deserve sincere congratulations for this gesture. This is an evident proof that people will never forget the past and illustrates the sentimental spirit of football and sports in general.

Επιτέλους στο Μαντσεστερ... (Being in Manchester...)

Μετά απο 2 περίπου μήνες καλοκαιρινών διακοπών και όχι μόνο σας καλοσωρίζω στην ιστοσελίδα μου την οποία επιβλέπω απο το Μαντσεστερ...

Μια καινούρια χρονιά άρχισε λοιπόν, για όλους μας. Προτού μιλήσω όμως για τη καινούρια μου πραγματικότητα να πω ένα μεγάλο ευχαριστώ στα παιδιά που γνώρισα στα 3 χρόνια που βρισκόμουν στο Hull. Τους ευχαριστώ γιατι περάσαμε καλά...Η τρίτη και τελευταία χρονιά όμως εκεί, ήταν το κάτι άλλο και γι'αυτό το λόγο θέλω να ευχαριστήσω ονομαστικά τους: Τασο, Δημήτρη (Προεδρο), Παρι, Στέλιο (Πρέσβη), Γιώργο (Doctor) για την παρέα που κάναμε και την μπάλα που παίξαμε. Επίσης, ευχαριστώ τον Θεόφιλο και τον μέγα Pengo για τις μεγάλες προσφορές του!

Στα δικά μου τώρα. Βρίσκομαι στο Μαντσεστερ και μένω στο Opal Gardens που ανήκει στο πανεπιστήμιο. Απέχει περίπου 15 λεπτά απο το πανεπιστήμιο με λεωφορείο και βρίσκεται κοντα στο Victoria Park. Το UMIST μέχρι στιγμής κερδίζει τις εντυπώσεις αν και εδώ οι περισσότεροι ασχολούνται με την ένωση των 2 πανεπιστημίων που θα γίνει απο την 1η Οκτωβρίου.

Το μάστερ μου έχει τίτλο Computing Science αλλα μέσα απο εκεί υπάρχει η κατευθυνση των Δικτύων την οποία και έχω επιλέξει. Σαν πόλη το Μαντσεστερ είναι τεράστιο και δεν έχω δει τπτ ακόμα.

Θα ενημερωθείτε για οτιδήποτε αξιοσημείωτο εν καιρώ...


After almost 2 months of summer vacation I can finaly re-welcome you to my blog which now I'm administering from Manchester UK.

The new season has begun for almost anyone I know but before I start talking about my news, it would be nice if I said a few things about the people I met during my 3 years in Hull. Therefore I would like to thank Richard Lowe and Jon Mayer for being such good friends. I hope we keep contact you guys.

As for me, I currently live in Opal Gardens which is one of the Victoria Park Halls of Residence. The distance from the North Campus of UMIST (where the department of Computation is) is about 15-20 minutes using a bus. Currently I have only registered for the campuses network and I must say I was taken aback by the formality and the attention paid on issues of security.

Considering my degree, this is an MSc in Computing Science, and I have chosen modules related to the Networks and Internet Security as I have realised that this area is what I am interested in. UMIST has a great careers office that helps students with future employment as well as part time jobs. The city is huge, and I haven't managed to see anything yet, apart from a walk in Piccadily Gardens and Market Street.

ΕΛΛΑΔΑ ΤΟΥΡΚΙΑ 0-0 (HELLAS TURKEY 0-0)

Έγινε λοιπόν και αυτό. Είμασταν και εμείς εκεί.

Σε ένα κατάμεστο στάδιο Καραισκάκη που δέν είχε να ζηλέψει τίποτε απο το Ανφίλντ και το Σεντ Τζέιμς Παρκ. Σε ένα Καραισκάκη που ήταν όλο μπλε. Το νέο παλάτι της Εθνικής Ελλάδος και του Ολυμπιακού Πειραιώς σε εντυπωσιάζει με τα σύγχρονα ηλεκτρονικά μέσα που διαθέτει, με την άνεση στις θέσεις του και με το γεγονός οτι όπου και να κάθεσαι βλέπεις τα πάντα.

Ένα καθαρά ποδοσφαιρικό γήπεδο το οποίο σε μαγεύει με την ακουστική του η οποία το κάνει απόρθητο κάστρο για οποιονδήποτε αντίπαλο. Έτσι και την Τετάρτη λοιπόν. 33 χιλιάδες κόσμος τραγουδούσε και υμνούσε τους Πρωταθλητές Ευρώπης. Και εκείνοι με τη σειρά τους τα έδωσαν όλα. Δεν έχουμε κανένα παράπονο απο τους διεθνείς γιατι φάνηκε οτι αυτό που μπορούσαν αυτό έδωσαν.

Το κέρδος όμως είναι ο κόσμος και μόνο αυτός. Και όταν λέω κόσμος, εξαιρούναι μια ομάδα 1000 γάυρων που στο τέλος του αγώνα άρχισαν να φωνάζουν τα γνωστά γαυρικά συνθήματα περι θύρας 7 και Ολυμπιακού, καθώς επίσης και μία ακόμα ομάδα 100 ατόμων με κυπριακές σημαίες που αποδοκίμασαν τον Τουρκικό Εθνικό ύμνο την ώρα που όλο το γήπεδο τους έλεγε να σκάσουν. Το κέρδος λοιπόν είναι ο κόσμος που αποδοκίμασε τους γαύρους και όσους αποδοκίμαζαν τον τούρκικο εθνικό ύμνο.

Το κέρδος είναι να τραγουδούν 33 χιλιάδες Έλληνες "Σε γνωρίζω απο την κόψη του σπαθιού την τρομερή..."

In an absolutely packed, and brand new, Karaiskaki stadium that has nothing less than Saint James Park or Anfield or Highbury, one of the greatest matches in the Greek football history, took place. It was Greece against Turkey with the game ending in a goalless draw. The new venue of the Greek national football team and at the same time the home ground of Olympiakos Piraeus C F is outstanding and wins all the impressions at first with all the new technology and the comfort of the seats. It is also very nice that wherever you sit, you can clearly see everything on the pitch.

It is clearly a venue for football games and they way it is built, makes it an undefeatable castle for the opponent because of the sound and the noise the supporters make. So it happened on Wednesday. 33 thousand Greeks gave the greatest boost to the European Champions which in turn responded by giving everything on the pitch. So there are no complains for the players cause you could see that they gave everything they had to beat Turkey.

The goalless draw means nothing. Nothing is lost and our hopes are still up. After all, 33 thousand were singing the national anthem united. And that's what we should keep from this game...

UNITED. GREECE UNITED.

ΕΛΛΑΣ ΟΛΕ ΟΛΕ / HELLAS OLE OLE

Όλα είναι έτοιμα...

...Με το εισιτήριο στο χέρι και την σημαία στον ώμο, σήμερα θα βρίσκομαι στη θύρα 3 του καινούριου σταδίου Καραισκάκη για να αποθεώσω και απο κοντά τους Πρωταθλητές Ευρώπης. Ελπίζω σε νίκη απέναντι στους Τούρκους αν και πρόκειται για πολύ δύσκολο ματς, σε μία εορταστική ατμόσφαιρα.

Πάντα μεσα σε αθλητικά πλαίσια βέβαια. Ας μήν ξεχνάμε οτι είμαστε Πρωταθλητές Ευρώπης και έχουμε και ένα επίπεδο πια...!!!


Everything is ready...

...having got a ticket and with the flag on my shoulders I will attend the game of Greece against Turkey in the brand new Karaiskaki stadium with the aim of cheering and chanting for the European Champions. I am positive for the result even though it will be a very tough game for both sides.

Lets not forget though that it only a game and we should forget all conflicts that can lead to violent reactions against the Turkish team and fans.
